The Naturalist's Sketchbook Animal Print Silk Twill Scarf – Cornflower Blue & Ivory

Twenty animals, drawn the way a Victorian naturalist might have recorded them: in fine engraved line, on a clean ivory page. A giraffe stands at the centre of this mulberry silk twill scarf, with a zebra, hippo, rhino, elephant, lion, gorilla, okapi and ring-tailed lemur gathered around it, and an ostrich and secretary bird picking their way between them.

Each animal is inked in its own shade of blue, from deep indigo to pale cornflower, so the print reads like a page of hand-coloured studies rather than a repeat pattern. A cornflower blue border with a fine inner keyline frames the whole sketchbook.

Silk twill has a soft sheen and enough body to hold a knot without slipping, so the scarf keeps its shape across the shoulders and sits neatly at the neck. Every edge is rolled and stitched by hand — several minutes of work per scarf, and the clearest sign a silk square was not finished by machine.
