Silk Care Guides
Silk is a delicate fabric that requires special care to maintain its luster, softness, and durability. Whether it's a silk scarf or pillowcase, following these care instructions will help preserve the beauty and quality of your silk items:
-----------------
Silk scarves:
Washing:
Hand Wash with Mild Detergent
- Hand washing with lukewarm water is advice, silk is a natural protein fiber so do not use harsh detergents that contain bleaches or brighteners - use only PH neutral detergents.
- Soaking silk for any more than a few minutes should be avoided.
Rinse thoroughly:
- After washing, rinse the silk scarf with cold water until all the soap residue is removed.
- Avoid twisting or wringing the scarf, as this can damage the delicate fibers.
Press Out Excess Water:
- Lay the scarf flat on a clean, absorbent towel.
- Roll up the towel with the scarf inside and gently press to absorb excess water. Do not wring or twist, roll in towel to extract water.
Drying:
Air Dry Flat:
- Lay the silk scarf flat on a dry towel or drying rack to air dry.
- Avoid drying silk in direct sunlight. Wet silk may yellow in direct sunlight or on a radiator.
- Drying silk in a clothes dryer is not recommended since it can damage the scarf.
Ironing (optional):
Most wrinkles in silk can be removed by hanging the scarf in the bathroom during a shower. Let the humidity do the ironing for you!
If ironing is necessary,
Iron with Low heat:
- Use a low heat setting on your iron ("Silk" setting on the iron or 2 points - 100ºC to 150ºC). Too much heat can dull or burn silk fabric, do not iron for a long period of time.
- Always iron the scarf when wet/humid. If the scarf is dry, vaporize it with water before ironing. Do not wet locally as this may cause rings.
- Place a clean, dry cloth between the iron and the scarf to protect the fabric from direct heat.
- Iron the scarf gently, using smooth, even strokes to remove wrinkles.
Storage:
- Store the silk scarf in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Avoid hanging the scarf for long periods, as this can cause stretching.
- Fold the scarf neatly and store it in a breathable fabric bag or drawer to prevent creasing.

Silk pillowcases:
Washing:
Ordinarily silk should only be hand washed or dry cleaned due to it’s delicate fibres. However, since our pillowcases are made from Premium Silk Satin for high quality and durable silk means you can also machine wash our pillowcases carefully.
Machine Wash on Gentle Cycle:
- Place the silk pillowcase in a mesh laundry bag to protect it during washing.
- Use a gentle cycle and cold water below 30°C to wash the pillowcase.
- Add a mild detergent formulated for silk or delicate fabrics
Avoid Bleach and Harsh Chemicals:
- Do not use fabric softener
- Never use bleach or harsh chemicals on silk, as they can damage the fabric.
- Opt for gentle, silk-friendly detergents to preserve the quality of your pillowcase.
Drying:
Air Dry:
- After washing, air dry the silk pillowcase by laying it flat on a clean towel.
- Avoid high heat, as it can damage the silk fibers.
Ironing (optional):
- If desired, iron the silk pillowcase on a low heat setting to remove wrinkles.
- Use a clean, dry cloth between the iron and the pillowcase to protect the fabric.
Storage:
- Store the silk pillowcase in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Fold the pillowcase neatly and store it in a breathable fabric bag or drawer to prevent creasing.
