Hand-Embroidered Emerald Rose Silk Velvet Evening Dress

Deep emerald is the colour of the season's most memorable rooms — the green of evergreen and old glass, lit from within by candlelight. The Emerald Rose is cut from silk velvet in exactly that green, and it is a dress made for the evenings that matter.

The velvet pile darkens and brightens as you turn, so the colour never sits still — one moment a rich forest green, the next a bright, lit emerald.

Climbing the bodice is a trailing vine of hand-embroidered roses, worked entirely by hand. Blush, dusty pink, deep rose, cream and soft-gold blooms gather along golden stems, their leaves shaded in soft green and lifted with small flashes of blue. The embroidery falls from the neckline across the front to the hip and continues onto the low, open back, so the dress is as considered from behind as it is from the front.

The silhouette is quietly confident — a bias-cut slip with fine straps, a V neckline and a softly scooped back, falling to a full maxi length.

Styling. Let the dress lead. Gold jewellery or a single strand of pearls keeps the look classic; on cooler evenings, add a printed silk scarf or a lime-bright silk stole, as shown.

Craftsmanship. Each Velvet Atelier piece is hand-embroidered in Vietnam by heritage artisan makers. Every motif is drawn slowly into the velvet by hand, a process measured in hours rather than minutes, and produced in a very limited run. No two dresses are ever quite identical.

• Fabric: Sumptuous silk velvet with a deep, light-catching pile, in emerald green — 30% mulberry silk, 70% viscose. Most fabric sold as “silk velvet” contains around 18% silk; ours carries nearly twice that, which is what gives the pile its depth and the way it holds the light.
• Embroidery: Hand-embroidered trailing rose vine in blush, dusty pink, deep rose, cream and soft gold, with green and blue foliage on golden stems.
• Silhouette: Bias-cut slip gown with fine straps, a V neckline and a low, scooped open back.
• Fit: Fitted — cut close to the body and runs small; size up if you are between sizes. Full maxi length. Available in UK sizes 8, 10, 12 and 14 (US 4–10 · EU 36–42 · DE 34–40), or made to your own measurements from a UK 6 to a UK 18.
• Occasion: Eveningwear, Christmas, black-tie, winter weddings and special celebrations.
• Handmade: Hand-embroidered in Vietnam in a very limited production run; each piece subtly unique.
• Care: Specialist dry clean only. Store on a padded hanger away from direct sunlight; steam gently to refresh the pile.
