Sky blue in shibori is something close to quiet perfection. The resist-dyeing process opens up the colour into a constellation of soft whites and pale blues — airy, unforced, like light diffused through thin cloud. It is a piece you reach for on days when the world already has enough noise.

Made in Nha Xa, northern Vietnam, where artisans have been working silk by hand for over 700 years. In shibori, the silk is folded, bound, and immersed — the pattern held in place by tension alone, revealed only when the bindings are removed. Each piece is different because each piece was made differently; there is no shortcut to this kind of work.

100% pure mulberry habotai silk: featherlight, naturally luminous, and the ideal ground for resist-dyeing, where colour and reserve play off one another with subtlety and depth.

  • Fabric: 100% pure mulberry habotai silk
  • Technique: Traditional shibori resist-dyeing in sky blue — each piece unique
  • Wear it: Loosely draped over the shoulders, knotted softly at the neck, or folded as a pale headscarf
  • Feel: Featherlight, breathable, and gently luminous
  • Size: 85 × 180 cm
  • Gift: A serene and considered gift — artisan-made in Vietnam
  • Care: Hand wash cold or dry clean

About Silk Habotai

Woven for centuries in Vietnam’s silk villages of Nha Xa and Van Phuc, habotai — “soft as down” — is prized for its featherlight drape and luminous sheen. Each Silk & Bears scarf is hand-dyed by artisans using traditional techniques, so no two pieces are ever identical.
