What colour is oyster? A pale, near-neutral shade sitting between ivory and soft grey, named for the inside of the shell. It is the shade chosen as an alternative to traditional ivory because it flatters every skin tone rather than competing with it, and it has become one of the most requested neutrals for 2026 weddings.

How it differs from our Ivory: our Ivory silks are matte and warm — the white of undyed silk, with no added sheen. Oyster is cooler, quieter, and carries a soft pearl lustre in the weave that catches the light as it moves. Woven from 100% mulberry habotai silk and hand-dyed in small batches in Nha Xa, the silk village north of Hanoi where the craft has been handed down through generations. Each length is dried naturally on bamboo frames rather than by machine, so no two pieces are quite identical.

Care

Hand wash in cool water with a silk-friendly detergent. Rinse alone on the first wash, as natural dyes settle. Do not soak or wring. Dry flat in the shade; cool iron with a pressing cloth. The fine slubs and tonal variations of hand-loomed silk are marks of authenticity, not faults.
