Crimson in shibori — the resist pattern pulling back the colour to reveal flashes of pale silk beneath a deep, rich red. It is a study in contrast that feels both ancient and entirely contemporary: the kind of piece that earns a second look in any room.
Made by artisans in Nha Xa, northern Vietnam, where the tradition of silk dyeing has been practised for over 700 years. In shibori, the silk is bound, twisted, or clamped before dyeing — the binding determines where the dye reaches and where it cannot. When the silk is opened, what has been made can only be understood in that moment. No two are ever the same.
Woven from 100% pure mulberry habotai silk: featherlight, naturally lustrous, and known for the depth it gives to crimson — a colour that, in silk, takes on a richness no other fabric can hold.

About Silk Habotai
Woven for centuries in Vietnam’s silk villages of Nha Xa and Van Phuc, habotai — “soft as down” — is prized for its featherlight drape and luminous sheen. Each Silk & Bears scarf is hand-dyed by artisans using traditional techniques, so no two pieces are ever identical.
Absolutely in love with the intensity of the colour, the shine and high quality of the fabric! I got it in 5 different colours!
This was a gift for my mother and she was very pleased with it. It’s good quality and arrived swiftly.
The silk scarf arrived lovingly wrapped and boxed. I saw the image but was nevertheless surprised by the beautiful deep red. The silk is wonderful to the touch.
