Champagne Silk Scarf – Hand-Dyed Mulberry Silk, Wedding & Bridesmaid Wrap

A soft, warm champagne — the colour of candlelight on ivory, or of unbleached linen. It is a quiet neutral, and that is its strength: it flatters ivory, blush, navy and black without competing with any of them, and it carries from a morning ceremony through to the last of the evening.

A note on the colour: this is a dyed silk, not a metallic. There is no shimmer, no gold thread and no pearlised finish — the glow you see in the photographs is the natural lustre of habotai silk catching the light. In daylight it reads as a soft warm nude; under evening light it picks up a little more gold. We do not make a metallic gold; the closest we come is our Marigold Silk Scarf, a deep saturated warm yellow.

Woven from 100% mulberry habotai silk and hand-dyed in small batches in Nha Xa, the silk village north of Hanoi where the craft has been handed down through generations. Each length is dried naturally on bamboo frames rather than by machine, which is why no two pieces are quite identical — and why the colour has depth that printed silk never achieves.

At 85 × 180 cm it covers the shoulders through a ceremony, drapes as an evening wrap after dark, and folds small enough to disappear into a clutch. It is equally at home worn as a headscarf, over an Eid outfit, or knotted once at the collarbone with a plain dress. Silk is the traditional twelfth-anniversary gift, and this arrives gift-boxed and ready to give.

How to wear it

• Wedding guest — over the shoulders for the ceremony, loose at the front, then knotted at the waist for the reception
• Bridesmaids — one shade across the party, ordered together so the dye batch matches
• Evening — draped over one shoulder against black or navy, where the warmth reads strongest
• Everyday — knotted once at the collarbone, or wrapped as a headscarf

Care

Hand wash in cool water with a silk-friendly detergent. Rinse alone on the first wash, as natural dyes settle. Do not soak or wring. Dry flat in the shade; cool iron with a pressing cloth. The fine slubs and tonal variations of hand-loomed silk are marks of authenticity, not faults.
