Blue has a thousand voices, and on marbled silk, it finds several of them at once. Deep cobalt swirls into cerulean, which softens into near-white — the pattern moves and shifts like water under wind. Each viewing reveals something the last did not.
The marbling technique is one of the oldest forms of surface decoration in silk: colour is applied to water and drawn into patterns before the silk is laid across it and lifted, pulling the design up from the surface. It is an alchemy that demands both skill and timing, and it cannot be repeated. The piece you receive was made once, in one unreplicable moment.
Hand-crafted by artisans in Nha Xa, a northern Vietnamese village where the tradition of working silk by hand spans more than 700 years. The base is 100% pure mulberry habotai silk — naturally luminous, featherlight, and the ideal surface for the extraordinary depth of marbled colour.

About Silk Habotai
Woven for centuries in Vietnam’s silk villages of Nha Xa and Van Phuc, habotai — “soft as down” — is prized for its featherlight drape and luminous sheen. Each Silk & Bears scarf is hand-dyed by artisans using traditional techniques, so no two pieces are ever identical.
Beautiful scarf, love the swirls of yellow, pale blue and light teal and its smooth feel and generous volume. Lovely interaction with the owner when choosing and buying. Definitely coming back for more.
