A Family Affair

Silk and Bears is more than just a shop; it's a mother and child project, a labour of love born from an international journey and the blessings of parenthood. Our founder first set foot in England in her early twenties, where she later found her life partner and decided to put down roots. The pandemic brought with it many challenges, but it also brought the joy of welcoming a beautiful daughter into the world. This little one has a soft spot for Steiff teddy bears, and her mother's soft spot is silk.

The Allure of Silk

COVID-19 transformed the way we live, with online shopping and remote work becoming the new normal. Faced with this change, our founder sought a way to make a living while sharing her Vietnamese heritage with her daughter. She embarked on a journey with mulberry silk, a fabric steeped in over 700 years of history in Vietnam. The vibrant colours, softness, and natural lustre of silk are characteristics that synthetic materials simply cannot replicate.

A Commitment to Quality and Sustainability

The pandemic has taught us the importance of conserving nature and safeguarding our environment. At Silk and Bears, we are passionate about offering products that stand the test of time and reduce our ecological footprint. We are determined not to sell "junk" to our customers. Instead, we are dedicated to providing long-lasting, versatile items.

Silk weaving holds a special place in Vietnamese culture and history. Vietnam consistently ranks among the top five silk-producing countries globally. Our silk yarns are from Bao Loc – Vietnam and meets the stringent standards of even the most demanding Japanese silk houses. Traditional silk weaving villages in Vietnam continue to use methods passed down through generations, ensuring the preservation of centuries-old techniques. We work directly with artists and weavers from silk villages of Van Phuc, and Nha Xa- Vietnam.

Silk is a truly global material, and at Silk and Bears, we also source from Hangzhou, the silk capital of China, to offer you a diverse and exquisite range of products. Each piece of silk is carefully selected and tested personally by our founder to ensure the highest quality.

We have our own logistic company which is Teddy4life Limited. We are in partnerships with Royal Mail, Evri, DHL, UPS. We make sure that orders are shipped within 1 day. We provide free shipping within the UK and worldwide.
